Let Everything you do be done in Love.

1 Corinthians 16:14

Hello~

Thanks for stopping by my page.

My name is Lori Gilmore I am an artist who paints in oil and watercolor.  I live in the mid west with my husband Allen Gilmore, and our dog Lucy and our cat, Leo.

I have been painting in oil since the mid 1980s and am self taught as much as anyone can be self taught these days.

I am so grateful for the many generous artists who have poured into my work over the years.

Some of my heroes are Chuck Black, Allen Kingwell, Terry Redlin ,Andrew Tischler ,Michael James Smith and Edward Hopper. I strive to be constantly learning and growing, and my work is characterized by an idealistic view of the world. Realism with bright color and dramatic light.

I have some completed work for sale, and I will do commission work as well, as long as a meeting of the creative minds can be reached with my prospective client.

All of my work is done with quality materials. I use archival surfaces and artist or professional grade paint.

If you would like to see what I have for sale, click the Gallery button on the home page. If you see something you are interested in, send me a message via the contact button or Facebook messenger and we will work something out.

A word from the Artist

Why I paint

Ever had one of those days when you said to yourself, “ There has to be more than this!” Ever felt a sense of nostalgia for a place or time that you have never experienced? Ever felt like you were just made for more than this life? Well, you were right. You were. I believe that we all were created to reflect the glory of God. And we have a part of ourselves deep within, that remembers Eden.

And that is the part that I strive to speak to with my art.

Recently a friend of mine commented on a painting of mine called Lake Light. She said that my work was surreal, and yet when looking at it, one wished that the world was like that. Huge compliment of course. And that feeling is exactly what I hope to evoke with each painting.

So… Come on in.  Have a snoop. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea if you must). Sit down. Settle in and enjoy.
